Original La Fonda fiberglass armchair designed by Charles Eames and Ray Eames and manufactured by Herman Miller, circa 1960s. The sculptural fiberglass shell features integrated arms and rests on the distinctive La Fonda pedestal base developed for the celebrated La Fonda del Sol restaurant project in New York, created in collaboration with designer Alexander Girard. The shell retains the molded Herman Miller mark and displays the characteristic visible fiberglass strands associated with early production examples. The pedestal base provides a clean architectural profile while allowing the chair to function equally well as a dining, desk, or occasional chair. A classic example of American mid-century modern design combining the organic shell form developed by the Eames studio with the refined pedestal base designed specifically for the La Fonda series.
